Week of May 24: Invite Him In
Come! Let's sing for joy to the LORD! Let's shout out praises to our protector who delivers us! Let's enter his presence with thanksgiving! Let's shout out to him in celebration! For the LORD is a great God, a great king who is superior to all gods. The depths of the earth are in his hand, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land. Come! Let's bow down and worship! Let's kneel before the LORD, our creator! For he is our God; we are the people of his pasture, the sheep he owns. Today, if only you would obey him! He says, "Do not be stubborn like they were at Meribah, like they were that day at Massah in the wilderness, where your ancestors challenged my authority, and tried my patience, even though they had seen my work. For forty years I was continually disgusted with that generation, and I said, 'These people desire to go astray; they do not obey my commands.' So I made a vow in my anger, 'They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.'"
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.
Invite Him IN
One thing I’ve learned during this pandemic is to invite God into every experience and emotion I encounter. On April 8th my perception of life and God changed. I received a call from Jamaica Hospital in NY that my uncle had passed. He had succumbed to complications from COVID-19.
What was I experiencing? Grief; loss of a loved one who played a significant role in my life. What came next was denial. I refused to accept he was gone.I would never have a conversation with him again. Anger because I had the opportunity to see him just days before. I should have known he was sick! Depression to the point of spending most days in tears and withdrawing myself from others. I had to get some help because I knew I was going into a place I felt uncomfortable in.
That place where I normally felt comfortable seemed distant but I managed to get there. I would get up in the morning and turn on my YouTube channel to listen to songs filling up my empty cup. I was broken but God was comforting.
If you are experiencing a loss; employment, loss of a loved one, freedom or anything try Jesus! Invite Him in.
Let Us Pray:
Lord, you are here working in this place. I worship You. You are here moving in our midst. I worship. You are our Way Maker, Miracle Worker and Promise Keeper. You are our light in the darkness that surrounds us. You are needed to touch our heart, mind and soul this day to comprehend what is surrounding us as we do our best to glorify You, In Jesus name Amen!
