Week of July 19: Hope
Scripture: "Show me the path where I should walk, O LORD; point out the right road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you."
I've seen and used this word countless times with the understanding of Hope is Real. I thought about others who don't see Hope as being Real. I believe that the greatest gift we can give to another person is Hope.
The other day I ran into an old friend. He expressed feelings of hopelessness. He shared being overwhelmed with additional responsibilities inherited since COVID-19. He continued to explain why he was feeling hopeless. He didn't know if he could keep up with the added work. When his colleagues would return and when would he see his family again.
I understood his plight. Gave him some advice and we departed.
Walking home I pondered over our encounter. My friend was unable to see a better tomorrow. His plight wouldn't always be there.
We have no idea what our life will encounter. We have to intentionally trust God with his plans. That plan includes you surviving, overcoming and winning!
Let Us Pray:
LORD, help us to trust you when we become overwhelmed with life circumstances. Help us to agree with our current situation and not rely on our feelings. For God your plans for us are always good. For you said in your word, "For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
In Jesus name Amen!
