Week of December 6, 2020 Joseph Dreams

Scripture: Genesis 37: 1-11

Joseph had a dream, a vision, and in reading through this part of scripture, I've asked myself this question “Am I living the vision of God?” What's His vision for my life, marriage, children, grandchildren and loved ones. My education, career, finances, relationships, and faith?

Joseph was about age 17, carrying out his duties in the family business. He was the youngest of 12 brothers and his brothers didn’t like him, but his father sure did. Joseph was known as the "favored son." Everyone knew it. He was given a beautiful robe by his father of many colors.

Joseph began having dreams and visions that showed him ruling over his older brothers. As a youth he shared them with his siblings. His innocents grew sentiment of jealousy, animosity and even outright hatred in the family. This siblings sought out to destroy him. Joseph eventually was sold into slavery.

Joseph did not allow what his brothers did deter him. He had a dream! This was no ordinary dream; it was a God dream, and Joseph lived in pursuit of that dream, day-by-day, building toward God’s ideal for his life.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” The Bible is full of God’s dreams for us. You have to be willing to pursuit them!

Let's Pray:

As we pray for our dreams and desires, we must make time to be still and silent, listening to Jesus.

Sovereign God,who I love and adore. Help me to listen to your voice. There may be dreams that I want to pursue, but you may be telling me to wait. Lord, I may think I know the next step to take, but you are calling me in a different direction. In Jesus name Amen.

Minister Kim
