Need Help.. But too Afraid to ASK. ..

Ever heard, if you need help just ask? I find that to be the case but often fail to apply it when the need is there. It took several life classes to smack me in the head before I caught the revelation! It takes a village, a community and a support system to accompany you to the finish line!!

The first time I signed up to ask for help in completing my Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling. I had a team of supporters who advocated" advised, prayed, studied and even pushed me to complete each semester. See my supporters believed when I couldn't. There were times when I heard them in my sleep, walking from one study hall to the next because the first one became overcrowded. The chatter interrupted my studies.

Why do we annoy what's best for us? I believe we are terrified of failing and looking defeated in front of others who care about us.

This is a don’t-do-what-I-did message: You may be able to handle things on your own, but you don’t have to, and you’ll likely make the going a lot harder. Invite people to support you in meeting your goal. If you can’t find a training partner (say, a friend who will encourage you to keep working on that novel), join a club (such as a writers’ group). But build yourself a small network of like-minded individuals who will support you. Good partners will hold you accountable, lend an ear, and share a fresh perspective, just when you need it most.

See you at the finish line!
